Past Meetings
A summary of the April 15
meeting, made by an attendee, follows. The Newcomers and New
Users SIG was opened with Bert Parent. The topic was "Understanding What is
Inside Your Computer." A Club member, Jerry
Raymond, presented a forum where he dismantled a computer. He even dismantled a
hard drive to show us how it works! With all the questions, time ran out before
the entire presentation could be made.
This demonstration will continue at a
later SIG meeting.
This SIG is a must for the beginner.
The topic for the May
13 meeting is undecided.
A summary of
the Feb. 12 meeting, made by an attendee, follows.
The Newcomers and New Users SIG was opened with Bert Parent leading the
group. Six members and visitors attended. After welcoming guests and a
brief orientation, the SIG began a discussion of backing up data files.
An actual backup CD holding thousands of files was illustrated on a
laptop at the meeting. Various questions related to basic computing
were asked by the group. The importance of making a backup on CD was
stressed. This SIG is a must for the beginner.
The topic for
the March 11 meeting has not yet been selected;
however, it will relate to one of the five general categories described
above. Questions in advance are encouraged, and can be made at the
on-line "Help" section of this web site.
