NEW LOCATION!!!

We have been holding off on several programs that require an Internet connection, and it is finally time to get some of those programs on the schedule.  Our search for alternative meeting locations has brought us to the Capital Senior Center at
Maxcy Gregg Park
1650 Park Circle, Columbia, SC

(if the link above doesn't work in your browser, click here for directions)
or check the directions on the Capital Senior Center website

Directions from Assembly Street:  Take Blossom Street towards Five Points.  At the bottom of the hill, turn right onto Pickens, then immediately to the left in front of the tall apartment building.  This left turn takes you over the sidewalk - it is not a "street" per se.  Follow the drive to the parking lot at the end and you will see the center.

Online Help Board
Post your questions online for a club member to answer.
NOTE:  Unfortunately, we have had to require that users register in order to post to the Help board, due to repeated targeting by one or more abusers (not a club member, I'm sure!).  You can still read the posts without logging in.  Hopefully, no further action will be required!  If you have trouble registering or logging in, you can contact the WebMaster by .

Starting with the June 7th board meeting, we will meet at Lizards Thicket on Forest Drive, across from Richland Mall. The Original Pancake House will be our "fallback" location when LT is not available.  Members are invited to attend.

Come see our new location - Finally we have Internet again - after 3 (?) years in a "dry" location!  Bring your laptop and make the SIGs really sing!

Buster White moves to the VP position and Nancy Johnson takes over as PR director.  Thanks and welcome.

While we post APCUG news articles, APCUG is posting some of our own Charlie Paschal's material.  See the Computer News page.

Web Site News
We are working on a New Web site:
It is tough to keep a web site up to date when everything has to go through one "webmaster", and that person (me) is too busy - or too lazy, or just not available...! To help avoid this type of bottleneck, organizations often turn to a "Content Management" driven web site where several people can update different parts of the site without being a web designer.  This is not a new trend - but the news is that we are turning to one.  Check out our "live prototype" at
  NEW WEB SITE TEST ...

The Club:
Located in the Columbia, South Carolina area, the Palmetto Personal Computer Club (PPCC) is an enthusiastic group of IBM PC and compatible personal computer users banded together to provide education, assistance, quality programs and SIGs (Special Interest Groups) on many topics.
Club Meetings:
The club meets at 6 PM on the second Thursday of each month at the Capital Senior Center in the Five Points area.  Get directions and maps here.   SIGs (Special Interest Groups, or Classes) meet at various times throughout the month.  Click on the SIG GROUPS tab for dates and times.
Membership:
Your first two visits are free!  An annual membership fee of $35.00 permits members to take part in any (or all) of the SIGs (Special Interest Groups).  Why pay $100s of dollars for special courses when you can join the PPCC and learn computer skills for only $35/year?   Prospective members are welcome to attend two club and special interest group meetings before joining.  Find more details on the MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION page.  If you wish to register by mail or update your information, simply print and fill out the  Registration Card found here.
Computer News:
We will be regularly updating this website with computer news and information that will help you in your personal and professional life.  Our club has a wealth of talent ready to help you with your computer or technology question.  Click on the COMPUTER NEWS tab (on top) for more information.
Meeting Presentation Archive:
You can find copies of some of the presentations made at Club meetings.  This is a new section, but it will hopefully grow as more presenters provide us copies of their materials.  Check out the PRESENTATION ARCHIVE for our first entries...

RCPL is one of the leading libraries in the country and there are features that you may not know about.  Ellen has the info. You may have questions on how to use these features. Ellen has the answers.  Attend this meeting and bring a friend.
