At our March club meeting, Doug Fisher, Executive Editor of The Convergence Newsletter, spoke to the club about how easy it is to start a blog. By now you have heard of the conficker worm. There was a great deal of media coverage about this April Fool's worm wreaking havoc on computers around the world. But things didn't seem that bad at the end of the day on April 1...or so we thought.
Conficker just won't go away. Apparently it is updating itself to do more malicious activity on computers that still have the worm. If you are having trouble connecting to Microsoft's website as well as most antivirus companies' websites, you just might have this pesky worm on your computer. If you have been keeping up with your Windows updates, you're OK. We suggest you leave Automatic Updates on to protect your computer from these kinds of problems. On a recent trip to Florida to a computer conference one of the vendors gave me a copy of a program called Zoom Ware. This program is designed to aid those with minor visual problems such as presbyopia. Many people develop visual problems with age, me being one of them.
